The 2018 Ballinaclash John Shiraz displays lifted varietal red berry fruits of raspberries and red currants and for the first time ever, we have added a touch of Touriga, giving this wine a subtle hint of violets.

This is a medium bodied wine, with well integrated French Oak. Barrel selected by our very accomplished wine makers, Chris Derrez and Lucy Maddox (and with a little help from Pete and Ned), we believe this premium wine is destined for big things.

Those of you familiar with our previous Ballinaclash Shiraz wines (including the 2012 Peter, 2014 Sub Tuum and the most recent 2016 Edward), will be well aware of their accolades, including the winning of 7 trophies in 8 days with the Edward Shiraz. These significant awards across several vintages is very affirming to us and demonstrates the fact that Ballinaclash Shiraz now has a very established and consistent history.

Once again, this is a classic medium bodied cool climate Hilltops Shiraz, showing ripe red fruits of raspberries and red currants. This wine has a fruit driven palate with firm tannins and savoury notes making it a good match with food, without becoming overpowering.

This will be your go to wine when serving darker meats or spicy dishes.

And now for something new…………..Whilst we continue to produce our classic, award winning  Hilltops reds, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, we are also always thinking outside the box, to see what else is out there, and, after much research and discussion (over red wine of course!), in 2017 we decided to graft our first Touriga Nacional grapes. This variety originates in the Doura Valley of Portugal and produces wine with elegant, floral fruit aromas and solid tannins and is, as we have just proved, very well suited to the growing conditions of the Hilltops Region.

The 2018 Ballinaclash Ned Touriga is extra special, as it is our inaugural Touriga Vintage. Why not become a part of Ballinaclash history and try the first ever Ballinaclash Touriga.
