Throughout the Cherry Season we are open 7 days a week from 8am to 5pm. Bookings essential for Pick Your Own and Wine Tasting Experiences. BOOK HERE
We spend our whole year looking after our cherry trees trying to produce the highest quality fruit for our customers. This year, we had beautiful Winter and early Spring rain, resulting in a bountiful crop of cherries. Due to circumstances completely out of our control, namely the weather, some of our early variety cherries have been damaged by rain. Not all fruit is damaged, however it is a little bit harder picking in these conditions.
The good news is that because of the cooler than usual weather, the cherry season is later than usual, which means that the recent rain may actually benefit the later varieties. fingers crossed. This weekend you will be picking Vistas and our white cherry variety, Vegas.
Apricots are not yet ripe but hopefully will be ready in a week or so.
Regardless of the weather, we will welcome you to Ballinaclash with open arms and warm country hospitality and we guarantee you an authentic farm experience taking in the fresh air, open spaces and the natural elements (which sometimes includes rain) that are all a part of our everyday farming lives.
If you are looking for shelter in between showers of rain, you can visit our well stocked Farm Gate Shop, do a wine tasting in our Cellar Door or just sit back in our shed with a cherry ice cream cone or cherry pie and ice cream. You can also purchase one of our award winning wines to enjoy by the glass! They all sound like pretty good options to me!
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you soon at Ballinaclash, rain, hail or shine!
